Interesting Thing I Realized This Morning

Why is it that people are so offended at Christmas being spelled “X-mas?” If you think about it, it is not any less Christian, it’s just an abbreviation. The Greek letter X (“Chi”) is the first letter of Christ in the Greek language, which, it just so happens, the earliest Christians used quite a bit. You know those “PX” symbols you see around a lot of churches nowadays? It’s not just a pretty decoration, it’s a Greek abbreviation that actually reads XP, or “Chi Rho.” Those letters are the first two letters of Christ, and they have been used as an abbreviation in the church for many many years. SO…. is X-Mas really such an outrageous, sacrilegious spelling after all? Or do you just hate the Greek language?
