Sidewalk Theory
Politics. (It’s not as simple as Left/Right)

Yes, I proudly support Jon Huntsman in 2012. Yes, I’m a registered Democrat. Yes, I realize he is a Republican. Yes, I will vote for President Obama if the Republicans can’t nominate someone with common sense, but only because not voting is moronic. No, I will not support him in his campaign. Yes, however, I am incredibly excited that my hometown is hosting the biggest convention in the nation next year, and yes, I voted for my mayor and city council members according to who will allow the DNC to pull off the best convention possible.

Point being… just because I do not support President Obama does not mean I am automatically Republican. I agree with the President on certain things, and I disagree with Huntsman on certain things. There is no such thing as a perfect candidate. I do not vote based on party, because there are morons on both sides. The inability of Congress to accomplish anything is a direct result of a) Poor voter turnout and b) the fact that the voters that DO turn out vote primarily based on party affiliation. This leads to ridiculous amounts of partisanship in government, resulting in deadlock within Congress and among the branches of government.

The sad truth is, since the advent of political campaigning via television (Think JFK) the two-party system has become a detriment to politics. We need diversity, we need cooperation. What we have now is a government consisting of a constantly bickering old married couple.
